During a flight over the Gulf of Mexico this morning, aerial spotter Sean Brumley observed 'non-metalic' oil sheen in waters off Baldwin County in Alabama. Brumley, Orange Beach geographic information systems specialist, said the flight path took him over the back bays of Orange Beach, the Alabama beaches from Orange Beach to Fort Morgan and 12 miles offshore. During the flight, Brumley observed: * In Orange Beach, non-metallic Sheen from Perdido Pass to Phoenix West is seen along the beaches to about two miles offshore. Also about three miles offshore is another patch of light Non-Metallic Sheen south of Phoenix West. * Back Bays of Orange Beach are clear of any surface oil. Just small amounts of light sheen from the booms near Boggy Point. * In Gulf Shores, non-metallic sheen from west of State Park Pier to just west of Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge is seen along the beach to about 3 miles offshore. * Fort Morgan is clear of any type of Surface Oil. * Twelve miles south of Dauphin Island and Fort Morgan is an area of heavy patches of brown-to-orange like substance that has silver to metallic aheen.
